Crush Check Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Eponymical Games Ltd ("we", "us", "our") and our advertising provider handle information when you use Crush Check.
1. Who we are
Eponymical Games Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales, based at 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom. Contact: direct@eponymicalgames.com.
2. What we collect
Crush Check does not require an account, does not ask for your date of birth, does not send your selected photos, chat screenshots, recognized text, face signals, generated results or selected age range to Eponymical Games, and does not use an Eponymical Games analytics or image-processing backend. Limited operational telemetry processed by Google ML Kit, advertising data processed by Google Mobile Ads (AdMob), consent information handled through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP), and purchase information handled by your app store are described below.
3. Photos, chat screenshots and face signals
The app lets you take a photo or choose an image from your photo library — including a screenshot of a conversation — so it can generate an unserious red or green flag result. Images are analyzed on your device. When available, the app may use local on-device face detection to read simple face signals and local on-device text recognition to read text visible in a screenshot, only to generate the entertainment verdict. The raw photos and chat screenshots, the inputs and outputs of face detection and text recognition, and the generated verdict content stay on your device. They are not used to identify anyone and are not uploaded to, collected by or stored on servers operated by us or Google.
4. Google ML Kit telemetry
Crush Check uses Google ML Kit for on-device face detection and text recognition. ML Kit does not send the raw image, chat text or the face-detection or text-recognition inputs and outputs to Google. The ML Kit SDK may, however, collect and send limited operational telemetry to Google that is separate from this content. Google describes this telemetry as including device and app information, a per-install identifier, performance and utilization information, API configuration such as image format and resolution, and event and error metrics. Google uses this limited telemetry for diagnostics, usage analytics and app functionality.
For Google's current disclosure and contractual terms, see ML Kit data disclosure for Apple apps and Google ML Kit Terms.
5. Sharing results
If you tap the app's share button, Crush Check uses your operating system's native share sheet. The destination app or service you choose handles the shared image under its own privacy terms.
6. Permissions
- Camera - used only when you choose to take a photo.
- Photo library - used only when you choose to import a photo.
You can manage these permissions in your device settings.
7. First-launch age gate
On first launch, Crush Check displays a neutral age gate and asks you to choose one of three ranges: under 13, 13–17 or 18+. The app does not ask for or calculate your date of birth. Users who select under 13 are blocked from using the app.
The selected age range is stored only on your device. It is not sent to Eponymical Games and is removed by Delete my data in the app's Settings or when the app's local data is removed. From the age gate, Google Mobile Ads and UMP receive only an under-age-of-consent treatment flag so that the appropriate advertising and consent treatment can be applied. Google does not receive the selected range or a date of birth from Crush Check.
8. Advertising and Google Mobile Ads
Crush Check may show banner and interstitial ads supplied by Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). The current app version is configured not to request personalized ads and does not ask for Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission.
The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically process the following categories of data: coarse location (for example, inferred from an IP address); device or other identifiers, including an advertising identifier when one is available to the SDK; advertising data and product interaction data such as ad impressions and taps; and crash, performance and other diagnostic data. Depending on the data, consent and applicable law, Google may use it to deliver and measure ads, provide app and advertising functionality, prevent fraud and abuse, secure its services and diagnose performance. This advertising data does not include the photos, chat screenshots, recognized text or face signals you choose for a Crush Check verdict.
Google handles this data under its own terms and policies. For more information, see Google Mobile Ads data disclosure, How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy.
9. Consent and privacy choices
The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to ask for or update advertising consent where required and applies the under-age-of-consent treatment flag described above. Ads are requested only when UMP reports that an ad request is allowed. If a consent message applies to you, you can review the available choices in that message and reopen them from the app's Settings under Privacy choices when Google requires that option. Your choice and consent status may be stored on your device and processed by Google to operate the consent flow. You can also limit advertising identifiers in your device privacy settings.
10. In-app purchases
The optional one-time Remove Ads purchase is processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment-card or bank-account details. The store supplies the app with the product and transaction status needed to unlock or restore the purchase. The app records the ad-removal entitlement on your device, and the purchase can be restored through the same store account, subject to the store's rules.
11. Data retention and deletion
Because the app does not upload your selected photos, chats, recognized text, face signals or results, we do not retain those items on our servers. Local temporary files, the selected age range, session counters and preferences are handled on your device by the app and operating system. The app's Settings include a Delete my data action that removes this locally stored app data; uninstalling the app also removes its local app data. Deleting local app data does not delete purchase records held by Apple or Google or limited telemetry independently processed by Google through ML Kit or Google Mobile Ads.
12. Children
Crush Check is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not available to users who select under 13 at the first-launch age gate.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above.
